Welcome to the Meadowbank Karate Group Website

The Meadowbank Karate Group was founded in 1970 under the instruction of Hamish Adam, 8th Dan. The first club started in Meadowbank Sports Centre and the group now have many clubs throughout Scotland. All the groups classes are instructed by Hamish, Steven Adam and Pam Robb. All coaches are qualified, insured, disclosure checked and recognised through Sport Scotland and the Scottish Karate Governing Body.

Hamish Adam --- 8th Dan

Hamish Adam

Hamish has been involved in karate for over 40 years and is one of the founding members of the Scottish Karate Federation, the largest karate group in Scotland. Hamish began his training with Japanese instructors and remained with them until the Scottish Karate Federation was formed when he then became the chairman of the federation. Hamish has always been involved in the competition side of karate and his many achievements include Scottish, British, European and World titles. He was a member of the Scottish team winning European Gold and the British team winning the World Championships in 1975, the first team ever to beat Japan. On retiring from competition he became coach to the Scottish national team, a position he held for 15 years. As well as his involvement with the Meadowbank Karate Group and the SKF he is a national coach to the Scottish team, Director of Sport to the Scottish Karate Governing Body and is a member of the technical committee for European Wadokai Karate.

Steven Adam --- 4th Dan

Steven Adam

Steven started karate at the age of five and has trained continually for 25 years. He was a member of the Scottish team from the age of 16 and represented his country in many international competitions including European and World championships. His many titles include Scottish, British and European champion. On retiring from the competition circuit he took up full time coaching and is the Scottish Karate Federation under 21 years Kumite (competition) coach, and has helped to take the younger members to medal positions both at home and abroad.

Pam Robb --- 2nd Dan

Pam Robb

Pam began karate at the age of seven and won many titles in junior competition. As a senior, Pam captained the Scottish national female team at many international events. She retired in 2010 undefeated Scottish champion and her other titles include British, European and Commonwealth gold medals. Pam is also a coach for the Scottish Karate Federation.
