Calendar
As the Meadowbank Karate Group are very involved in the sporting side of karate we arrange and participate in numerous competitions throughout the year. Many of our events are designed to accommodate younger and lower graded students who compete against students of a similar standard. Other events may only be suitable for children and adults of a higher competitive standard. The calendar of events below will indicate if the competition is suitable for you.

* Please note that under the new SKGB selection system those that do not attend team pool sessions cannot be included in the elite squad and in future all selections will be made from those in the elite squad.
It is therefore important for anyone wishing to be included in the elite group in the future to attend team pool sessions regularly. It is also important to keep an up to date note of your results from major championships (Scottish, Scottish Open, British Four Nations, British Open, European, World and any open events at home and abroad). The coaches will also keep a record of elite squad members results that will be used for selection purposes.
An example of the importance was evident at the selection for the forthcoming European Juniors. Two applicants who put their applications forward for consideration, had good competition results as required, but had not attended squad training and could not be considered for inclusion in the squad.
Criteria for selection (to represent Scotland at major events)
1. Attendance at squad training.
2. Results from the major events mentioned above.
Athletes can be added to the elite squad at any time if the coaches feel they have achieved the criteria necessary.
